The time of signing paper slips to receive registered letters is now over. From now on, postmen will deliver registered mail, speed post, and parcels only after taking a digital signature on their mobile phones.

This change shows how the Postal Department is moving quickly toward digital services and supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India initiative.

All deliveries will now be completed digitally, making the process faster and more transparent.

Postman App Simplifies the Delivery Process

According to Postal Superintendent Robin Chandra, the Postal Department has introduced the Postman App to handle the entire delivery process. Every postman has been given an Android smartphone with this app installed.

During delivery, the postman opens the app, selects the Scan & Delivery option, and scans the barcode on the mail item.

The customer then signs directly on the mobile screen. Only after this digital signature is collected is the delivery marked as complete.

Samastipur Post Office Tops Bihar in Account Openings

Post offices are also being upgraded with a corporate-style look and modern facilities to attract more customers.

Due to these improvements, the Samastipur Post Office has secured first place in Bihar for opening the highest number of accounts.

To recognize this achievement, 150 postal employees will be honored.

QR Code and UPI Payments Now Available

Almost all post office services can now be paid for using QR codes and UPI. This digital payment option saves time and removes the need to carry cash.

The Postmaster confirmed that payments for services such as Speed Post, Registered Letters, Registered Parcels, Registered Foreign Letters, International Air Parcels, Aerogram International, Franking Machine Recharge, Business Post, Bill Mail Service,

and Departmental Examination Fees are now accepted both in cash and digitally at post offices across the Samastipur district.

Facilities like Wi-Fi and a cafeteria will also be made available, making the post office more customer-friendly.
