Telecom company BSNL on Friday announced the nationwide launch of its new customer registration mobile app called Sanchar Mitra. This step is aimed at making the process of onboarding new customers faster and more convenient.

Sanchar Mitra Replaces Older Sanchar Aadhaar App

The Sanchar Mitra app has been developed internally by BSNL engineers from across the country.

It replaces the older Sanchar Aadhaar app, which was earlier used for Aadhaar-based e-KYC verification to add new customers to the BSNL network.

The previous app was developed by a private company and was mainly used by BSNL retailers and franchise partners for digital customer identity verification.

The shift to a new app became necessary after the contract with the authorized provider of the Sanchar Aadhaar app ended in November 2025.

This contract expiry had led to temporary disruptions in customer registration services nationwide, including the issuance of new SIM cards and replacement SIMs.

BSNL Notice on Nationwide Rollout

In an official notice, BSNL stated that the Sanchar Mitra app was originally developed for emergency use and has now been rolled out across India, including Karnataka.

The company added that this indigenous app is playing a key role in delivering faster and better services to customers.
