In today’s digital payment era, millions of HDFC Bank customers need to stay alert on two key dates. The bank has announced two scheduled maintenance periods in December 2025 to strengthen its systems.
UPI services will remain unavailable for four hours on December 13 and December 21, from 2:30 am to 6:30 am.
This upgrade aims to make banking faster, safer, and more efficient, but customers must plan ahead to avoid disruptions in daily transactions.
Services That Will Be Affected
During the maintenance window, all UPI-related services linked to HDFC accounts will be completely unavailable. This includes:
UPI payments from savings and current accounts
UPI transactions using RuPay credit cards
Payments through HDFC’s mobile banking app
UPI transactions on PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm, and other apps where HDFC is the payment service provider
Merchant UPI settlements and collections linked to HDFC accounts
However, net banking and other core banking services will work normally.
Customers may experience issues with bill payments, recharges, and small purchases during the early morning hours.
PayZapp Wallet: A Convenient Backup Option
To reduce inconvenience, HDFC is promoting its PayZapp wallet, which will work smoothly even during UPI downtime.
How to use it:
Download PayZapp on Android or iOS
Register using your mobile number and verify with OTP
Choose KYC method:
PAN-based: Limit ₹10,000 per transaction and ₹1.2 lakh per year
Bank-based: Limit ₹2 lakh per transaction and ₹10 lakh per year
Existing HDFC credit card users can complete full KYC by entering the last 4 digits of their card
Redeem CashPoints within the app
Set daily, monthly, or per-transaction limits
Load money using debit or credit cards
This wallet not only helps during scheduled maintenance but also simplifies everyday payments and offers cashback benefits.
Plan Ahead to Avoid Disruptions
To stay trouble-free, customers should complete important payments at least 24 hours before the maintenance begins.
Those with accounts in other banks can continue using UPI, cash, or other wallets.
HDFC, like other major banks, regularly upgrades its systems to improve long-term service quality. Customers should keep an eye on app notifications and the bank’s official website for the latest updates.
