Updated Green Card Timelines for Indians Working in the US

Indians working in the US can apply for a Green Card after a few years of employment.

A Green Card gives you permanent residency, allowing you to live and work in the US permanently.

However, the wait can be very long.

To keep applicants updated, the US Department of State releases a Visa Bulletin every month.

This bulletin explains how much the waiting line has moved forward.

The Visa Bulletin for December 2025 is now out, and it brings some small but positive changes for Indian applicants.

All three major employment-based categories (EB-1, EB-2, EB-3) have seen their dates move forward by one month.

How the Visa Bulletin Works

The Visa Bulletin has two important sections:

Final Action Dates and Dates for Filing.

The Final Action Date tells you whether your Priority Date (the date you filed your petition) is now eligible for approval.

If your Priority Date is earlier than the date shown, you can finally receive your Green Card.

The Dates for Filing, on the other hand, tell you when you can submit all your documents.

Once your date becomes current in this chart, you can file your paperwork and officially join the Green Card waiting line.

But receiving the Green Card still takes more time even after filing.
