Kotak Mahindra Bank customers should take note — starting December 1, 2025, SMS alert charges will change.
Customers who do not maintain the required minimum balance in their accounts will now have to pay 15 paise per SMS after a certain limit.
The bank explained that this move aims to cover operational costs and ensure that customers continue to receive timely transaction alerts.
New SMS Charges and Limits
According to the bank, customers will receive the first 30 transaction alert SMS messages each month for free.
After that, each additional alert will cost ₹0.15 per SMS.
These alerts include notifications for UPI transactions, ATM withdrawals, cash deposits, cheque deposits, and card payments, among others.
Who Is Exempt from SMS Charges
Customers maintaining an average monthly balance of ₹10,000 or more in their savings or salary accounts will not be charged for SMS alerts.
For Kotak 811 account holders, the minimum balance requirement is ₹5,000.
Accounts that receive regular salary credits or have term deposits will also be exempt from this new charge.
Changes in Debit Card Fees
Kotak Mahindra Bank has also updated debit card fees from November 1, 2025.
The Privy League Black Metal Debit Card annual fee has been reduced from ₹5,000 to ₹1,500.
The Privy League LED Debit Card fee has also been cut from ₹2,500 to ₹1,500.
