The expansion also supports Indian Railways’ goal of strengthening high-speed connectivity across southern, northern, and central India.

Vande Bharat Trains See Record Demand

Vande Bharat trains continue to be a top choice for passengers.

According to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, most routes report more than 100% occupancy, meaning seats are often overbooked.

In fact, the trains recorded 102% average occupancy in FY 2024–25, which increased to 105% in FY 2025–26 (till June 2025).

This surge shows how travelers are shifting toward high-speed and comfortable train journeys.

Modern Features for a Smoother Ride

The new trains are equipped with world-class safety and comfort features, including:

KAVACH automatic train protection system

Top speed: 180 kmph (design) and 160 kmph (operational)

UV-C air disinfection system

Automatic plug doors and sealed gangways for noise reduction

CCTV cameras, alarms, and talk-back units in every coach

Divyangjan-friendly washrooms and improved safety systems

Crash-hardened memory and remote monitoring (CCMS)

These advanced systems ensure smooth, safe, and hassle-free travel for passengers.

The Road Ahead

With the launch of these four new trains, Indian Railways continues to push forward in modernizing the country’s rail network.

The Vande Bharat Express has already set a new standard for speed, comfort, and efficiency — and its growing popularity shows India’s readiness for a new era in train travel.
