Now, in another big move, Railways has changed the rules for the reservation chart.

As per the new rules, passengers will now know a day in advance whether their ticket is confirmed or not.

When Will the Reservation Chart Be Made?

According to the latest guidelines from the Railway Board, the rules for making the reservation chart based on the train’s departure time are as follows:

Second Reservation Chart

There is no change in the process of the second chart. It will continue as per the current rules to encourage more current bookings.

These new instructions will also apply to trains departing from remote charting locations.

What Benefit Will Passengers Get?

Passengers will know their booking status in advance, which will help those on the waitlist or RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) to plan their trip better. This will also increase seat availability in current booking.

Those traveling at night can prepare better for their journey as they will have the chart earlier. It will also allow better seat allocation and reduce last-minute confusion.

Why Did Railways Make This Change?

Railways made this update to improve the passenger experience, ensure better use of seats, and allow timely digital charting of trains.

It will also boost earnings from current bookings, and passengers will get clear ticket status before the journey begins.
