Swiggy vs Zomato: Swiggy Expands Fast Service as Zomato Shuts Down

Right after Zomato decided to shut down its 15-minute food delivery service, Swiggy took the opportunity to expand its fast service.

On May 2, Swiggy announced that its 10-minute food delivery service, Bolt, is now available in over 500 cities across India.

This expansion came just a day after Zomato closed its 15-minute food delivery services, Zomato Quick and Zomato Everyday, due to operational challenges.

Swiggy’s Bolt Launched in October 2024

Swiggy launched Bolt in October 2024, and the service has quickly gained popularity. Bolt now accounts for around 10% of Swiggy’s total food delivery orders.

The service focuses on delivering high-demand items from restaurants within a 2-kilometer radius, which are quick to prepare.

Swiggy has partnered with local restaurants as well as major quick-service restaurant chains like KFC, McDonald’s, Subway, Faasos, Burger King, and Curefoods for this service.

Zomato vs Swiggy: Ensuring Delivery Worker Safety

Both Zomato and Swiggy initially highlighted their quick service options prominently on their apps.

While Zomato has now shut down Zomato Quick and Zomato Everyday due to operational issues, Swiggy ensures that delivery workers are not pressured to meet speed targets.

Swiggy does not link delivery speed to worker incentives, and workers are not told when they are delivering a Bolt order, maintaining a focus on their safety.
