This price increase comes just one day after Mother Dairy also raised its milk prices by up to Rs 2 per liter.

Details of the Price Hike

The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which owns Amul, announced this hike on April 30.

According to the statement, the price increase of Rs 2 per liter translates to a 3-4% increase in the maximum retail price (MRP) of Amul’s milk products, which is lower than the overall food inflation.

For example, in Gujarat, the price for a half-liter pouch of Amul Gold milk will now be Rs 34, while the Shakti variant will cost Rs 31 for a half-liter pouch.

Mother Dairy’s Price Increase

Just a day earlier, Mother Dairy, one of the biggest milk suppliers in the Delhi-NCR region, raised its milk prices by up to Rs 2 per liter due to rising procurement costs.

This increase was also made to compensate for the rising costs of raw materials.

Mother Dairy sells approximately 35 lakh liters of milk daily in Delhi-NCR through various outlets and e-commerce platforms.

The company also distributes milk in several other states like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, and Bihar.

According to a Mother Dairy official, the price hike was necessary due to the 4-5 rupee increase in procurement costs over the last few months.

The heatwave and early arrival of summer have driven up procurement costs, affecting milk prices.

Price Breakdown for Mother Dairy Milk

The price of toned milk (bulk) in Delhi-NCR rose from Rs 54 per liter to Rs 56 per liter.

Full-cream milk and toned milk in pouches saw an increase of Rs 1 per liter, with full-cream milk now priced at Rs 69 and toned milk at Rs 57 per liter.
