Top 5 IT Companies in the Country Added 16,779 Employees in FY25

In FY 2024-25, four out of the top five IT companies in the country saw an increase in their number of employees. These companies are TCS, Wipro, Infosys, and Tech Mahindra.

However, HCL Technologies experienced a decline in its workforce. In FY 2024, these companies had cut around 70,000 jobs due to uncertainty in demand.

This was because clients were reducing or delaying spending on technology amidst a challenging economic environment.

While many of these concerns are still present, including new tariffs between the US and other countries, IT company CEOs are optimistic.

They believe this uncertainty is temporary and that demand will eventually improve.

Freshers Hiring in FY25

Most of these companies successfully met their fresher hiring targets in FY25.

TCS exceeded its target slightly, hiring 42,000 freshers instead of the planned 40,000. The company plans to hire the same number or more in FY26.

Infosys hired between 15,000 and 20,000 freshers, meeting its target for FY25. For FY26, Infosys aims to hire over 20,000 freshers.

HCLTech recruited 7,829 freshers in FY25 and hasn’t set a target for FY26 but plans to hire about 2,000 freshers each quarter.

Wipro hired 10,000 freshers, which matched its target. However, given the current business environment, the company may adjust its hiring plans for FY26.

Tech Mahindra hired 6,100 freshers, surpassing its target of 6,000. The company’s hiring plans for FY26 will depend on demand forecasts.
