The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has released its payroll report for February 2025.
A total of 16.1 lakh new members joined the EPFO during this month, marking a 3.99% increase compared to February 2024.
This growth highlights improved job opportunities and greater awareness about employee benefits.
How Many New Subscribers Joined EPFO?
In February 2025, about 7.39 lakh new subscribers joined EPFO.
According to the Ministry of Labor and Employment, this rise is due to more job openings, better awareness about employee benefits, and the EPFO’s outreach programs.
For EPFO, new subscribers are people who join the organization for the first time. Net additions refer to both new subscribers and returning members who had previously withdrawn from the EPFO.
Returning Members
In February 2025, 13.1 lakh members rejoined the EPFO, showing an 11.85% increase compared to the previous year.
The Ministry mentioned that many of these members decided to transfer their EPFO deposits after changing jobs, rather than withdrawing them, which helps with long-term financial security.
Youth Participation
The age group 18 to 25 years remains the largest segment of new subscribers. This group added 4.27 lakh members, making up 57.71% of the total new members.
The Ministry explained that most of the new joiners in the organized sector are young, first-time job seekers.
The net payroll addition for this age group in February 2025 was about 6.78 lakh, which is 3.01% higher than last year.
Increase in Women’s Participation
In February 2025, around 2.08 lakh new women members joined EPFO, which is a 1.26% increase compared to last year.
The total female net payroll addition was about 3.37 lakh, marking a 9.23% increase from the previous year.
This trend reflects a growing shift towards diversity and inclusiveness in workplaces.
