If you are a government employee, it’s essential to understand these changes, as being unaware could lead to difficulties when it’s time to retire.

Qualifying Service Certificate Requirement

The Personnel Ministry has issued a new guideline, which states that all government employees must submit a Qualifying Service Certificate (QSC) five years before their retirement, once they have completed 18 years of service.

This certificate will verify the employee’s eligibility for retirement benefits.

The Department of Pension and Pensioners Welfare under the Ministry of Personnel has clarified that employees will need to obtain this verification after completing 18 years of service, especially those who have five or fewer years left before retirement.

This verification will ensure that all necessary records are properly arranged and up-to-date before retirement.

How Will Employee Verification Be Done?

The verification process will involve the head of the employee’s department and the accounts office working together to verify the employee’s records.

This process will follow the service rules, and once complete, the employee will receive a certificate in the prescribed format.

According to the Central Civil Services Pension Rules 2021, this verification is mandatory and should be completed at least five years before retirement. The process will begin after January 31.
