The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has introduced new rules under the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS).
Now, government employees and pensioners can get faster approval for essential medical devices like CPAP, BiPAP, and oxygen concentrators.
This change will eliminate the need for patients to rent costly equipment, which was previously necessary due to long approval times.
Since CGHS does not refund rental expenses, this update will provide significant relief to CGHS cardholders.
You can now apply for costly devices online
Previously, pensioners had to apply offline, and the approval process took anywhere from 15 to 45 days or more.
Now, the entire process has been shifted online, ensuring faster approvals and greater transparency.
You can apply by email
Under the new guidelines, CGHS beneficiaries can now scan and email their application for approval.
They will need to submit the required documents and affidavit along with the application to speed up the process.
If a CGHS health center lacks a high-speed scanner, the documents can still be sent by other means.
The government has instructed that high-speed scanners be installed at all CGHS wellness centers to ensure quicker approvals and prevent delays.
Tracking Made Easier with E-Filing
All approval records will now be maintained in a separate Excel sheet at the Additional Director of CGHS.
This sheet will include details such as the e-file number, beneficiary’s name, ID, device name, and approval status.
This will allow beneficiaries to easily track the status of their applications online.
You will be notified of the approval or rejection via email
After the respiratory medicine expert committee reviews the application, the beneficiary will be notified of the approval or rejection via email.
If approved, an official letter will be issued, allowing the beneficiary to purchase the required medical device.
CGHS beneficiaries will get relief
The new digital process will help CGHS beneficiaries receive approval updates quickly, eliminating long waiting times. They will soon know whether their application is approved or rejected.
