People are still confused about the cold weather—questions like “Will the cold increase?” and “How long will it last?” are troubling many.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a significant update about the weather.
Meteorologists predict that states in North India, including Uttar Pradesh, will see major weather changes in the coming days due to a western disturbance
and moisture from the Arabian Sea. Rain is expected, and temperatures are likely to fluctuate.
IMD has also issued an alert for lightning and thunder in several districts from February 6 to February 10.
States Likely to Be Affected
The western disturbance will have the most significant impact on Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, with snowfall and rain expected on February 4 and 5.
Light to moderate rainfall may also occur in Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and West Uttar Pradesh. In Uttar Pradesh, rain accompanied by thunder
and lightning is expected in 14 districts, including Saharanpur, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Bijnor, Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, and Sambhal.
What About the Cold and Fog?
Cold Weather:
The IMD predicts a slight rise in minimum temperatures (2 to 3 degrees) for the next two days.
However, after February 7, temperatures may drop again, with a 2 to 4-degree fall in many parts of North India.
Central India, including Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, will not see significant temperature changes for two days, but a 2 to 3-degree drop is expected afterward.
Dense Fog
Dense fog continues in many areas of North India. The IMD forecasts dense fog in Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar until February 4.
In eastern states like West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Odisha, fog is expected until February 6.
New Western Disturbance on February 8
Another western disturbance is expected to become active on February 8, with its effects seen on February 9 and 10.
This disturbance may bring more rain and snowfall to Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir.
When Will the Weather Clear Up?
The weather is likely to improve gradually after February 10. The cold is expected to ease, but for the next few days, people in North India
and hilly regions should remain cautious. Rain, snowfall, cold winds, and lightning could continue to pose challenges.
