WhatsApp, one of the most popular instant messaging apps worldwide, continues to enhance its user experience by adding new features.
Recently, some exciting changes have appeared in the beta version, and a global rollout is expected soon. Let’s take a closer look at these new updates.
Change in Status Update Style
WhatsApp is introducing a major change to how users update their status. In the beta version, users will now be able to share photos and videos along with music in their status updates. This feature is available on WhatsApp Beta for Android (version 2.25.2.5).
The music library for status updates will be similar to Instagram, allowing users to search and pick their favorite songs or trending tracks. However, there will be a 15-second limit on music clips in status updates.
Cross-Posting on Instagram and Facebook Stories
WhatsApp has also introduced a much-awaited feature for cross-platform content sharing.
With the addition of the Accounts Center, users can now manage WhatsApp integration with other Meta platforms like Instagram and Facebook.
This feature allows users to share their WhatsApp status updates directly to their Instagram and Facebook stories.
By default, the feature is turned off, but users can enable it from within the app’s settings. The feature will be rolled out gradually in the coming days.
Add Multiple Accounts on One Phone
A new feature is being introduced that allows users to log in to multiple WhatsApp accounts on a single device.
Initially available in WhatsApp Beta for Android (version 2.23.17.8), it has now been added to WhatsApp Beta for iOS (version 25.2.10.70).
This will benefit users who have multiple WhatsApp accounts with different phone numbers.
Users will have two options: they can either set up one account as the primary or scan a QR code to link a companion account.
This feature helps users save all their conversations within one app, though switching accounts might require restarting WhatsApp.
Enhanced View Once Photos and Videos
WhatsApp is also improving the View Once feature for photos, videos, and voice messages.
Previously, users could send media set to View Once, but they couldn’t view them on linked devices.
With the new update, users can now open View Once media on linked devices as well, making it easier for people who use WhatsApp across different devices.
This feature is currently available in WhatsApp Beta for Android (version 2.25.3.7) and is expected to be rolled out more widely soon.
These updates are all set to improve the WhatsApp experience, offering users more flexibility and control over their content. Keep an eye out for the stable versions of these features in the near future!
