The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has introduced a significant update for its millions of members.
Members can now easily update their personal details without needing any documents.
This includes corrections to information like date of birth, citizenship, parents’ names, marital status, spouse’s name, gender, and dates of joining or leaving a company.
This update will benefit 3.9 lakh members with pending requests, as they can now cancel their previous requests and resubmit them through the new, simplified process.
EPFO has introduced several updates to its system, allowing members to correct their personal details without needing any documents.
These details include name spelling, date of birth, parents’ names, gender, marital status, spouse’s name, and dates of joining and leaving a company.
This new update simplifies the process, making it easier for members to update their information.
Who can update
EPFO announced that this new feature is available only for members whose Universal Account Number (UAN) is linked and verified with Aadhaar.
The aim is to reduce complaints and speed up the resolution of pending requests.
Previously, members had to get employer verification for changes, which took about 28 days.
Now, with the new facility, members can easily update their details, making the process faster and simpler.
It is necessary to link your PAN with Aadhaar
EPFO members must first check if their Aadhaar card is linked to their PAN. If they are not linked, they need to link them before proceeding.
According to the update, EPFO approval will still be required for updating 50% of the information, while members can update the remaining details on their own.
This step is aimed at reducing complaints and resolving them more efficiently.
How to update
To update your details, first visit the EPFO website and log in using your UAN number and password.
Next, click on the ‘Manage’ tab at the top. If you need to update details like your name, date of birth, or gender, select the ‘Modify Basic Details’ option.
Enter the correct information as per your Aadhaar card, ensuring that the details in your EPF and Aadhaar match. If needed, upload documents like your Aadhaar, PAN, or Birth Certificate.
