Reliance Jio is launching its VoNR (Voice over New Radio) service for users, marking it as the first company to offer this advanced calling technology.
VoNR improves voice quality by reducing background noise and utilizing HD audio, resulting in clearer communication.
With lower latency, it enhances the overall experience and boosts network efficiency.
How VoNR Differs from VoLTE
Currently, Airtel, Vodafone Idea, Jio, and others use VoLTE for calling, which works on the 4G network.
In contrast, VoNR is designed for 5G networks. VoNR offers improved voice quality, reduced latency, and better network efficiency by leveraging 5G technology. It is specifically built to function on 5G networks.
Jio Starts the Service
Reports suggest that Jio has launched this service in Delhi and Mumbai, and it is believed to be available in other regions as well.
The company plans to expand it nationwide soon. With this, Jio is set to lead again. Currently, there is no information from Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) about implementing this technology.
Airtel and Vi’s Status
Airtel has not yet launched 5G SA (standalone), and there is no update from the company regarding its deployment this year. As a result, Airtel customers may have to wait a long time for VoNR.
Similarly, Vi will also roll out 5G NSA (non-standalone) like Airtel. In this case, the company will also be unable to offer VoNR services to its customers in the near future.
In this case, Jio remains the only option for customers to access this service.
