After the rain on Thursday morning in Delhi, the cold weather has intensified. The weather department has predicted fog and mist during the morning
and evening today, with light rain possible. A yellow alert has been issued from January 17 to January 19.
Light rain was recorded in several areas of the capital from Wednesday night until 8:30 am on Thursday.
Rainfall and Temperature Details
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rain began in some parts of Delhi around 11:30 pm on Wednesday.
Between 11:30 pm and 5:30 am, 3.7 mm of rainfall was recorded at Delhi’s primary weather station.
On Thursday, the maximum temperature was 19.6°C, which is considered normal, while the minimum temperature was 10.3°C, which is 2.7°C higher than usual.
The minimum humidity was 100%, while the maximum humidity level reached 61%.
Forecast for January 21 and Beyond
The weather department has predicted clear skies and dense fog for Friday morning, which could further lower temperatures in Delhi, Noida, Faridabad, and Gurugram.
The IMD expects similar conditions on Saturday morning. Friday’s temperatures are likely to range between 19°C (maximum) and 8°C (minimum).
Light rain is expected in Delhi on the evening and night of January 21 amid a cold wave in North India.
Seven-Day Weather Forecast
The weather department’s forecast for the next week indicates light rain on Friday, followed by clear skies on Saturday.
On Sunday, some clouds may appear, and the weather may stay cloudy on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Thursday is expected to remain cloudy as well.
GRAP-4 Restrictions Lifted
Due to improved air quality, the Centre’s committee on air quality in Delhi-NCR lifted the restrictions under the fourth phase of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Thursday.
These restrictions had been imposed on Wednesday due to the accumulation of pollutants caused by light winds, low temperatures, and hazy conditions. The air quality index had reached 396 the previous evening.
