The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a cold wave warning for several regions of India.
Temperatures in Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad are expected to range between 14°C and 19°C.
Temperature Drop in Northern States
Northern regions, including Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, are likely to experience a temperature drop of 1-5°C. Similarly, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan,
and Muzaffarabad could witness a decrease of 2-5°C. In some areas, the temperature might drop further by 6-12°C.
In Punjab and Haryana, temperatures are expected to fall by 2-4°C, with this trend persisting for the coming days. Bihar and Kutch will also see a slight temperature decrease of 1-3°C.
Cold Conditions in Central and Western India
Central India will not escape the cold wave, as temperatures in Madhya Pradesh are predicted to dip by 1-3°C. Similarly, Gujarat’s Kutch region may experience a similar decrease.
Western India, particularly Rajasthan, is expected to see a temperature drop of 2-4°C. The IMD has issued a warning for these areas as the cold conditions intensify.
Stable Weather in Southern India
Unlike the northern, central, and western regions, southern states such as Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and Mahe are expected to have stable weather.
Temperatures in these areas will remain around 16°C with no significant changes anticipated.
Although southern India is unaffected by the severe cold wave, residents should still prepare for cooler nights as the season progresses.
