If you’re planning to travel by air soon, this news is essential for you.
The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has introduced a new policy regarding hand baggage. Understanding this rule is crucial to avoid any inconvenience at the airport.
Due to the growing number of passengers at security checkpoints, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) have enforced stricter hand baggage rules.
According to this new policy, passengers are allowed to carry only one hand bag inside the plane.
This rule applies to both domestic and international flights, limiting travelers to a single hand bag on board.
The bag’s weight should not exceed 7 kg
Under the new hand baggage policy by BCAS, passengers are now allowed to carry only one hand or cabin bag inside the flight.
Air India has stated that passengers in economy or premium economy class can carry a hand bag weighing up to 7 kg, while those in first or business class are allowed a bag weighing up to 10 kg.
The airline’s rules also specify that the total dimensions of the hand bag should not exceed 55 cm (21.6 inches) in height, 40 cm (15.7 inches) in length, and 20 cm (7.8 inches) in width.
These passengers will get discount
Passengers who booked tickets before May 2, 2024, will not be affected by this new rule for now.
The updated hand baggage policy will apply only to changes made after this date.
Additionally, if a passenger wants to carry a purse or laptop bag, its weight must not exceed 3 kg.
