Ahead of the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party has introduced a major initiative.
The party announced the Mahila Samman Yojana, offering Rs 2100 per month to women, and free treatment for senior citizens above 60 years of age in both government and private hospitals.
Starting Monday, Aam Aadmi Party will begin the registration process for this scheme.
Arvind Kejriwal, the National Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party and former Chief Minister of Delhi, unveiled the registration program on Sunday.
Women and senior citizens residing in Delhi can register for the scheme starting Monday.
AAP leaders will go door to door.
Former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, current Chief Minister Atishi, along with several Delhi government ministers and prominent Aam Aadmi Party leaders, will visit different areas of Delhi to register people for the new schemes.
Kejriwal announced that women and elderly individuals won’t have to wait in line; instead, AAP volunteers will go door-to-door, register them, and provide a guarantee card, similar to a smart card.
This initiative can be seen as a door-to-door campaign by AAP, as workers will visit every home to register women and senior citizens for the scheme.
Voter card has to be kept with
Kejriwal has also stated that women and elderly individuals should keep their voter cards ready during the registration campaign.
He alleged that there is a conspiracy to remove voters’ names from the list in Delhi and assured that if people reside in their area and possess a voter card, the Aam Aadmi Party will ensure their names are added back to the voter list.
Through the door-to-door registration process, Aam Aadmi Party will assess the number of people in each area, check if their names are on the voter list, and identify if any names have been removed.
The party aims to establish a personal and emotional connection with every household.
35 to 40 lakh women will benefit
Kejriwal states that around 35 to 40 lakh women in Delhi will benefit from the Mahila Samman Yojana, while approximately 10-15 lakh elderly people will benefit from the Sanjeevani Yojana.
The success of Aam Aadmi Party’s efforts to reach every household through this scheme will be revealed in the upcoming assembly elections.
For now, Kejriwal is actively preparing for the elections and consistently targeting his opponents.
Thanked Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena
On Sunday, Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, reviewed certain areas of Delhi and raised concerns directly with the Kejriwal government about the difficulties there.
In response to these allegations of mismanagement, Kejriwal expressed his gratitude, saying he appreciates the Lieutenant Governor for highlighting the government’s shortcomings.
Kejriwal assured him that the issues pointed out will be addressed. He further mentioned that improvements have already been made in the area the Lieutenant Governor had recently visited, where the roads were in poor condition, and that Chief Minister Atishi will soon inaugurate the upgraded infrastructure.
Kejriwal has raised concerns about Delhi’s tableau being excluded from this year’s Republic Day celebrations and criticized the BJP-led central government over the matter.
