Before the new year 2025 begins, important news has been announced for stock market investors, traders, brokerage houses, and both foreign (FII) and domestic investors (DII).
India’s oldest stock exchanges, BSE and the National Stock Exchange, have announced the trading holiday schedule for 2025.
The first trading holiday of 2025 will be on MahaShivratri, falling on Wednesday, 26 February 2025.
Trading Holidays in the Market
BSE and the National Stock Exchange have announced the trading holiday schedule for 2025.
These holidays will apply to all three segments: Equity, Equity Derivatives, and SLB.
In 2025, the stock market will remain closed for 14 holidays, excluding Saturdays and Sundays.
The market will be closed on MahaShivratri (26 February 2025), Holi (14 March 2025), and Eid (31 March 2025).
Muhurat Trading on 21st October
The stock market will be closed on 10th April, 14th April for Ambedkar Jayanti, and 18th April for Good Friday.
It will also be closed on 1st May for Maharashtra Day. Following this, the market will remain closed on 15th August, 27th August for Ganesh Chaturthi, 2nd October for Gandhi Jayanti and Dussehra.
On 21st October 2025, the market will be closed for Diwali, but Muhurat Trading will take place on the same day. The market will remain closed on 22nd October, the day after Diwali.
Additionally, the stock market will be closed on 5th November for Guru Nanak Jayanti and on 25th December for Christmas.
Stock Market to Open on February 1
Please note that on Saturday, February 1, 2025, the stock market will remain open for special trading on the day of the general budget presentation.
Although the market is usually closed on Saturdays, it will be open this day due to the budget presentation.
