The US Embassy in India will introduce new regulations for non-immigrant visa appointments, including H-1B visas, from January 1, 2025.
These changes aim to streamline the appointment process and reduce wait times for applicants.
This update, shared through an official Instagram post by the US Embassy, follows the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) recent announcement of new measures to modernize the H-1B visa process.
The DHS changes are designed to help applicants quickly fill job vacancies in critical sectors.
Key Changes to Visa Appointment Rules
Under the revised rules:
1) Applicants can reschedule their visa appointments once without paying additional fees.
2) If an applicant misses the rescheduled appointment or needs to reschedule more than once, they must book a new appointment and pay the required fees again.
The US Embassy emphasized the importance of attending scheduled appointments to ensure the process remains smooth and efficient.
“These changes will make it easier and faster for everyone to get appointments,” the embassy stated.
