The Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) has extended the deadline for employers to upload salary-related information and other details until January 31, 2025.
This extension is for over 3.1 lakh applications that are still pending for pension on higher salary.
According to a statement from the Labor Ministry, EPFO has also provided an online facility to submit applications for the verification of joint options for higher salary pensions.
Timeline and Previous Extensions
As of July 11, 2023, EPFO received 17.49 lakh applications from pensioners. This process began after the Supreme Court’s order on November 4, 2022.
The facility was introduced on February 26, 2023, for eligible pensioners and members.
The original deadline was set for May 3, 2023, but it was extended to June 26, 2023, to give four extra months for applications.
An additional 15 days was provided for any issues, making the final submission date July 11, 2023.
Final Opportunity for Employers
Despite several extensions, including to September 30, 2023, December 31, 2023, and May 31, 2024, more than 3.1 lakh applications were still pending with employers.
As a result, the ministry has given employers a “last chance” until January 31, 2025, to upload the necessary salary details and complete the pending verifications.
Employers are also asked to submit their responses and update information in more than 4.66 lakh cases by January 15, 2025, where EPFO has requested additional details about the applications it has received.
