Uber has introduced its subscription service, Uber One, in India. This service is designed to benefit people who use ride-hailing services, especially those using cabs.
Uber already has 25 million customers globally using this service. The plan offers different membership durations, including monthly, quarterly,
and yearly options, and provides several benefits like discounts and credits.
Pricing Plans for Uber One
Uber One offers three membership plans:
Monthly Plan: Rs 149
Quarterly Plan: Rs 349
Yearly Plan: Rs 1,499
These plans allow customers to choose based on their budget and how frequently they use Uber.
Benefits for Uber One Members
Subscribers get several perks, including:
Uber Credits: Up to Rs 150 per trip.
Zomato Gold Membership: 3 months of membership with added benefits as prices rise.
Cancellation Policy
Only members with an annual subscription can cancel their Uber One membership. If a member cancels, all the benefits, including trip credits, will be immediately stopped.
Uber One’s Global Launch and Availability
The Uber One subscription was first launched in the US in 2021 and has been available in Canada for the past year. It is now part of Uber’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the competitive Indian market.
Competitive Landscape in India
Uber is facing increased competition with the entry of new players like Namma Traveller, which recently raised $11 million in funding. This company focuses on offering subscription features that are more driver-friendly.
Uber’s Support for CoSS and Drivers
Apart from launching Uber One, Uber has also supported the Code of Social Security (CoSS) initiative by promoting registration on the e-Shram portal.
This initiative aims to provide benefits to gig and unorganised workers, with Uber aiming to create a “safe, easy, and fair” platform for its drivers.
