Annual Submission of Life Certificate for Pensioners

Every year in November, all Central Government pensioners must submit their life certificate to ensure they receive their pension on time.

Pensioners aged 80 years and above have a special advantage; they can submit their life certificate starting from October 1.

For other pensioners, the submission period begins on November 1.

What is a Life Certificate?

Jeevan Pramaan is a digital life certificate created using an Aadhaar card and biometric data (like fingerprints or eye scans).

This certificate allows pensioners to prove they are alive without needing to visit the pension department every year.

The submission can be done online, and it is recognized under the Information Technology Act.

This process is particularly helpful for elderly pensioners, making it easier for them to manage their pensions.

Important Dates for Life Certificate Submission

Senior pensioners (80 years and older) can submit their life certificate starting October 1, 2024. Other pensioners can begin submitting theirs on November 1.

The usual deadline for all pensioners is November 30, but the government may extend this date if necessary.

Consequences of Late Submission

If pensioners do not submit their life certificate by November 30, their pension payments will be halted starting in December. Once they submit the certificate, they will receive the full pension

and any outstanding amounts in their next payment, once it is updated in the pension system.

If a life certificate is not submitted for three years or more, approval from the relevant authorities will be required to restart the pension payments.
