e-KYC now compulsory for Ration Card Holders, Complete by November 1st

The Government of India has implemented various schemes to benefit citizens, particularly those from poorer sections.

Under the National Food Security Scheme, ration is provided to low-income citizens at subsidized rates.

To access these benefits, having a ration card is essential. However, the government has introduced new guidelines for ration card holders.

Starting November 1, changes will be made to the process of obtaining ration, and some individuals may lose their access if they do not comply with these guidelines.

 The reason behind this?

e-KYC is mandatory for all ration card holders under the National Food Security Scheme.

The Ministry of Food and Public Affairs had already issued this information. However, many ration card holders have not yet completed the e-KYC process.

The department has set October 31 as the deadline for e-KYC completion. If a ration card holder does not complete the e-KYC by this date, they will not receive ration next month.

Additionally, names of those who fail to comply will be removed from the ration card, and cards without completed e-KYC will be canceled.

 Why is e-KYC being conducted?

People have questions about the ration card e-KYC process. Why is the government implementing e-KYC?

The reason is that many individuals who are not eligible for the free ration scheme are still registered on the ration card.

Many of these individuals have passed away, but their names have not yet been removed from the ration card.

Now, all ration card holders—meaning everyone listed on a family’s ration card—must take action.

All of them must complete the e-KYC process. They can visit their nearest Food Supply Department office to do this.

Rules to prevent fraud

Cases of fraud have often been reported in the National Food Security Scheme, and it’s essential to address this issue.

Preventing fraud ensures that the benefits of the scheme reach those who genuinely qualify.

The government has taken several steps to combat fraud, including making e-KYC mandatory for ration card holders.

e-KYC Must Be Completed by November 1

All ration card holders are advised to complete e-KYC by November 1. This rule has been introduced to prevent illegal collection of rations.

If you want to continue benefiting from your ration card, make sure to complete the e-KYC process.
