Reliance Jio has shocked its users by discontinuing the ₹149 and ₹179 prepaid recharge plans. This move follows recent price hikes by Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone.
Although Jio had initially retained these two plans with reduced validity, a new report from TelecomTalk indicates that these plans have been quietly removed from Jio’s platform.
Impact on Users
The discontinuation of these low-cost recharge plans means that keeping a Jio SIM active for outgoing calls has become more expensive.
However, Jio users can still receive incoming calls even without an active service validity plan.
This change primarily impacts customers looking for affordable recharge options, who will now have to opt for higher-priced plans to make calls.
Current Cheapest Plan and Price Increases
After this change, the cheapest recharge plan offered by Jio is now ₹189. This plan includes 2 GB of mobile data, unlimited calling, 300 SMS, and a subscription to Jio apps, with a validity of 28 days.
Previously, this plan was priced at ₹155 but increased to ₹189 starting July 3. For comparison, Airtel and Vodafone offer similar plans at ₹199.
