The federation informed CNBC-TV18 via a statement that the price increase is due to higher operational and production costs for milk.

Our member unions have raised prices for farmers by approximately 6-8% compared to last year.

GCMMF states that Amul allocates about 80 paise out of every rupee paid by consumers for milk and milk products to producers.

In a separate update, the Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (KCMMF), also known as Milma, announced on June 1 that it’s implementing a comprehensive strategy to bolster the state’s cooperative dairy industry and attain self-sufficiency in milk production.

Improving productivity and aiding dairy farmers facing higher input expenses are crucial aspects of this initiative, as mentioned by Milma chairman KS Mani in an article commemorating World Milk Day, observed on June 1.

He highlighted the state government’s efforts in executing various projects to boost milk production and fulfill the entire domestic demand.
