The Ministry of Road Transport has made many vehicle and driving licence services easier by expanding its online facilities.
The number of services available through voluntary Aadhaar authentication has now increased from 58 to 100.
This means people can complete more transport-related work online without visiting the RTO, making the process faster and more convenient.
More Driving Licence Services Available Online
Several new driving licence (DL) services have now been added to the online system. These include:
Applying for a new driving licence
Adding a new vehicle category to an existing licence
Permanently surrendering a driving licence
Updating the mobile number linked to the driving licence
These services can be accessed online using voluntary Aadhaar authentication.
No Aadhaar? You Can Still Use Offline Services
People who do not have an Aadhaar number or do not wish to use Aadhaar authentication can still access these services.
They can submit any other valid identity document to the concerned transport authority and complete the process through the offline mode.
More RC Services Shifted Online
The government has also expanded online services related to the Registration Certificate (RC).
Vehicle owners can now complete tasks like changing their name, updating the mobile number linked to the RC, renewing the RC, adding or updating a nominee, cancelling a No Objection Certificate (NOC), and cancelling the RC through the faceless online system.
Online Tax Refunds and Vehicle Transfer
Motor vehicle owners can now apply for and receive motor vehicle tax refunds online.
The online system also allows the transfer of vehicle ownership after the death of the owner. In addition, services related to adding, ending, or continuing vehicle hypothecation have also been included.
Apart from this, vehicle owners can now apply online to convert a commercial vehicle into a private vehicle, register vintage vehicles, and obtain a new registration number after shifting to another state.
